Are you craving vegan doughnuts and don`t know where to find them in Tokyo? This comprehensive guide has your back! Whether you're into classic doughnuts, fancy filled ones, or healthier alternatives, there is something for everybody.

Also don`t forget to check out my Ultimate Guide to Vegan Bakeries in Tokyo!
OSCAR WILDE

The best and my top must-go place for vegan doughnuts in Tokyo definitely is Oscar Wilde in Roppongi! They offer everything from simple sugar doughnuts and old-fashioned doughnuts to fancy ones filled with cream and even a savory one with curry inside!

There are also two seasonal specials every month.

My personal favourites? The pistachio one filled with creamy, sweet pistachio cream as well as the an butter one which comes with sweet bean paste and vegan butter!

You can do take-out and enjoy the doughnuts somewhere at the near-by Roppongi Hills or at home, or sit on the terrace on the right-hand sight of the doughnut shop.
*They use white sugar which in Japan could be processed with bone char. Please decide for yourself if it is vegan enough for you.

SUNDAY VEGAN

Despite the misleading name, the cute vegan café SUNDAY VEGAN in Kichijoji is open most days of the week and my second favourite doughnut shop in Tokyo. While their doughnuts are a bit smaller in size, they come with oat milk glazing, custard fillings or with chocolate coating and more!
You can eat them inside, or get them to go to devour them in the near-by and beautiful Inokashira Park.

Shibuya Saunas

Hidden away on Sakuragaokacho in Shibuya, this gem is another must-visit! Located inside the sauna SAUNAS, the café offers vegan doughnuts and curry. But you do not need to enter the sauna to enjoy them - There is a take-out window outside!

Why not enjoy yummy doughnuts while gazing at beautiful sakura light up with pink light?

These non-fry dougnuts are perfect if you want a slightly healthier dessert! They come in many unique flavours, like for example matcha, double chocolate, milk tea, caramel banana or seasonal ones.

You can buy them at three different locations. The main ones are the café VENUTS in Yōga and whyte in Harajuku.
CHEAT TOKYO inside of Shibuya Sakura Stage sells them too, but in frozen form to enjoy at home.

CASUAL BISTRO TOSSO

TOSSO is a vegan restaurant right next to Oscar Wilde, operating only in the evenings and offering doughnuts (probably from Oscar Wilde) topped with ice cream! There are three flavours: berry, mango and cola! They also have one topped with fruit and cream.

I personally tried the mango ice cream one and I have to say, doughnuts and ice cream are the perfect combination!

While UPBEET!Tokyo doesn't have their own café, you can find their vegan doughnuts at many different shops, for example at Natural Lawson, at the Bio-Ral café inside Shinjuku Marui, Natural House, and many more places or order them online.

Good Town Doughnuts

Good Town Doughnuts used to have their own café but are now are part of The Little Bakery Tokyo Not all, but a lot of the doughnuts are vegan and they all taste amazing! The size is large, and they offer flavours like plain doughnuts, strawberry, matcha, chocolate, mango or sakura.

Since vegan flavours sell out quickly, better go there in the morning or early afternoon!

Starbucks

If you are in a pinch and need a doughnut quickly, or are happy with a simple old sugar doughnut, Starbucks is your friend! Their plant-based doughnuts are big, fluffy, and delicious. Personally not my first choice if I have the option to go to one of the above places, but it's amazing that Starbucks offers them.
What is Veganism?
"Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.“
- The Vegan Society
Reasons to choose vegan alternatives:
Protect animals from suffering horrendously and getting killed
A whole-food plant-based vegan diet has the least environmental impact
A whole-food plant-based vegan diet is extremely healthy and can help reversing various diseases like type 2 diabetes or heart diseases.
For people, as a vegan diet requires only one third of the land needed to support a meat and dairy diet.
