Looking for a sweet slice of Tokyo that's as Instagrammable as it is delicious? Japan’s iconic fruit sando - fluffy white bread stuffed with clouds of whipped cream and vibrant, juicy fruit—just got a vegan twist! Whether you’re plant-based or just fruit-obsessed, these dreamy sandwiches are a must-try. In this post, I’m sharing 5 places in Tokyo where you can enjoy vegan fruit sandwiches that are as kind to animals as they are to your tastebuds.
Fruits and Season

This fruits parlor in Ebisu offers any variation of fruits sandwich you can imagine! From classing whipped cream and strawberry ones to ones with red kiwi, mixed fruits ones, or matcha cream, they have something for everybody!

I also loved the cherry blossom cream sandwich with strawberries. Both the bread and cream are super fluffy, and the amount of fruit in them is really generous. And if you want to share several ones with friends, the staff can cut them up neatly for you!

While a bit pricy, their fruit sandwiches are definitely worth a try! I absolutely loved them.

Hatoya`s Vegan Fruit Sandwiches

This small stand near Sensoji temple in Asakusa specializes in vegan fruit sandwiches and offers several flavours like: strawberry, kiwi, banana, grapes, mandarine, pineapple.

The whipped cream is rather soft and sweet and so delicous! Definetely try them out when in Asakusa!

Marbre Vegan

Twice a month, the vegan cake shop Marbre vegan right next to Shinjuku Gyoen offers two kinds of vegan fruit sandwiches. The special thing about them? They even have a chocolate one which I had never seen anywhere before!

The chocolate cream was extremely fluffy and rich, having the taste of chocolate mousse. The sandwich had strawberry, kiwi, banana and mandarin in it which was really nice. Definitely a must-try! Check out Marbre's instagram for details on which days you can buy it.

Futaba Fruits Parlor

The fruit sandwiches here are smaller in size, therefore you get 4 small ones with mixed fruits. What makes them different is that they don`t only come with fluffy whipped cream, but also a layer of delicious vanilla pudding!

Just in case you are wondering why there is only one sandwich in the pictiure, it is because I chose it in a set with their vegan curry. In that case you only get one. But if you order it without the set it should be four.

Morethan Bakery

The massive fruit sandwich consists of several layers, filled to the brim with lots of different fruits: Starwberries, banana, kiwi. The bread is thinner and therefore less fluffy than at other places and comes with the crust still on, which makes it hard to bite through, especially in combination with how thick the whole sandwich is. It`s yummy though and great when you want to have lots of fruit.

Morethan Bakery is completely vegan every Sunday and has some vegan options during the week. However, I`m not sure if the fruit sandwich is available only on Sundays only or not. If you want to be sure to get one, better go on a Sunday.

What is Veganism?
"Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.“
- The Vegan Society
Reasons to choose vegan alternatives:
Protect animals from suffering horrendously and getting killed
A whole-food plant-based vegan diet has the least environmental impact
A whole-food plant-based vegan diet is extremely healthy and can help reversing various diseases like type 2 diabetes or heart diseases.
For people, as a vegan diet requires only one third of the land needed to support a meat and dairy diet.
